Wendy Tonsits

Wendy Tonsits received her BA from the Philadelphia College of Art, currently the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA. After graduating, Tonsits spent some time in Japan through Parsons School of Design, learning Japanese metalsmithing techniques. Upon her return to the US, Wendy attended GIA, the Gemological Institute of America in New York City and received her Graduate Gemology Degree. Afterward she also worked in the GIA Gem Trade Laboratory as a staff diamond grader. For 11 years Wendy Tonsits created and maintained her jewelry teaching studio, Amalgam Arts Atlanta, where she offered classes and workshops in jewelry and metalsmithing techniques. Wendy has participated in juried national shows sponsored by the American Craft Council and Wendy Rosen and has been a featured artist at the High Museum of Art in Atlanta, GA. Returning to Philadelphia, Tonsits teaches adult classes at The Fleisher Art Memorial in Philadelphia, The Main Line Arts Center in Haverford, PA, and private jewelry instruction at the Night Shift Studio in the Bok Building in Philadelphia. Private Instruction

Wendy Tonsits offers Private Instruction for individuals who are interested in developing their skills in jewelry design and jewelry production techniques. There is something for everyone since experience levels required for instruction range from beginner to advanced. Sessions can be centered on perfecting a specific skill or working out challenges on an individual project, preferring to learn metalsmithing and jewelry making in a private environment or focusing on the development of unique jewelry design concepts. Sessions are scheduled by appointment in hourly increments. Cost is $100 per hour with a minimum reservation of 1 hour, multiple hour sessions and/or scheduled recurring sessions.

Wedding Ring Adventure

Full Day Wedding Ring Adventure

Make your wedding rings from up to 20 grams of precious metals. Start at the very beginning with raw casting grain. Melt your metal in a crucible and then shape the ingot into the contour wire you’ll use to construct your wedding rings. An 8 hour adventure includes lunch and a champagne toast when the rings are finished!

Half Day Wedding Ring Adventure

Make your wedding rings from up to 20 grams of precious metals. Start with metal already milled into the shapes you will need to start forming your rings right away. A 4 hour adventure includes light hors d’oeuvres and a champagne toast when the rings are finished! Precious metal selection choices are platinum, palladium, 18k yellow or white gold or 14k yellow or white gold.
